Journal Challenge Day 10: Who Do You Look Up To The Most?
First of all Happy Mother's Day to all the mommas out there, I thought this prompt was fitting seeing as the person I look up to is my momma. Why not hype her up the way she deserves? Today's your day mom, you do you, live your best life. I'd offer to cook dinner but you want to BBQ and I don't know how to do that, so that's up to your husband. I'll clean or something.
I feel like I've talked about my momma a lot on here, but that's because she's my whole world. We don't always see eye-to-eye but she always has my best interest in mind. This woman is the greatest human on the planet, I'm so blessed to call you my mom. I don't tell you that enough, but I do. Even if I don't act like it sometimes.
My mom raised two girls and she did it all on her own. She worked her ass off so we could have not only things that we needed but things we wanted to. She made it possible for us to dance and play sports, and join girl guilds. Always helped with homework even if we had to get reinforcement because who the hell actually understands math. Art projects were my favorite with her though, her input was always appreciated, she has the most creative brain which is something she passed it along to both her girls. Her advice has saved me on multiple occasions and even if I didn't listen to her she would never say "I told you so" instead she'd give me her shoulder to cry on and then we'd figure out a way to fix whatever it was.
Not only did she raise two wonderfully perfect girls, but she also adopted two stepsons about 10 years ago now. I can't imagine what's it's like to have step-children, I feel like it would be weird right? There are these humans that are yours but also they're not yours, so do you discipline them? Do you co-parent them? They already have a mom so I don't know I feel like that would be weird. My mom doesn't think like that though, she just accepted them as her own and it's been like that ever since. She supports whatever they do and she would do anything for them, just like she would for my sister and I. That's just the kind of person she is.
She is the rock of our household for sure, she's the glue that keeps us together. Plus, she's like the coolest human being I've ever met. She knows how to be a best friend, but also knows how to be a mother. I think a lot of mom's nowadays get caught up in that "I want to be a cool mom, I'm going to be their best friend" mentality that they forget to be actual mothers. My mom has always been able to be both.
Since it's mothers day I want to share the other purdy mommas in my life. Just so they know they're appreciated and loved too. I've called/facetimed/talked to them in person already but what's one more lil love post.

This cutie pie here is my Gramma, my mom's mom. She's the sweetest little firecracker you'll ever meet. Once I told her she was slacking as a grandma because she hadn't made cookies in a while, so she made me a batch of cookies every week for I don't even remember how long. I don't have many pictures of just us because she's always the one behind the camera. Happy Mother's Day, I love you Gramma!
This angel is my Grandma, my dad's mom. She's the gentlest soul with the quickest wit. I gave her a rock once when we were moving, and I said: "Here Grandma, this is so you never forget me." I was 4yo, she still has that rock and it's in the china cabinet. Happy Mother's Day Grandma, I love you!
This blonde beauty is my sister and she's holding the newest little addition to the family. Her second son, Maverick. Her firstborn, Hunter, was playing with his Grandpa when we took this photo but he is just precious. They both own my heart. Paige is an amazing mom, she learned from the best, but she's also figured a lot out on her own. Considering she has two baby boys and my mom only had two baby girls there are some things that she just can't help with. Happy Mothers Day P, I love you!
