Journal Challenge Day 11: Describe Your Dream House.

I think about my dream house like at least once a day, maybe that's because I want my own place again so badly. It's not that I don't like living at home, it's just once you've been on your own and had a space that was yours, it's just hard. I miss having my own kitchen that I can make whatever whenever in, or a living room with my own couch to relax on and a TV to watch what I want to watch without sharing. I crave those things.

My dream house is small, like a cottage. I like the cabin style but I've seen too many horror movies to trust that. It would be two stories, the bottom floor would have the kitchen, dining room, living room, of course, probably a half bath and office space. The second floor would have the bedrooms, and the number of rooms could change depending on if children get thrown into the mix but for sure two. One master and then a spare. But the spare wouldn't be for guests, I want a separate tiny guest house, like those super cute tiny homes that you see on  TV. I fricken love those! I also want a space to paint, an art room or something. I haven't decided if I want it separate from the house like a 'she shed' situation or if I want it on the second level of the house with a nice view. I'd honestly be perfectly fine with either. Oooh and a lot of windows I love natural light! There would be a wrap-around porch with a swing and everything.

So those are the bones I guess, but we need more detail. I have a very boho, hippie, earth vibe that I go for. My room right now is exactly that, it's not 100% how I  want it yet there's some tweaking that I need to do, but it's a very calm and peaceful space, full of light colors and natural textures. I love plants too, I have four in my room right now and two of them are fake. I have an aloe plant and a spider plant and both are thriving which is pretty cool considering I don't mess with them much. So I want my dream house to have the same vibe to it, to be very neutral and natural and full of life.

I'm pretty minimalistic, I don't tend to keep things that I don't need. I'm not very sentimental with objects. There are of course some strange random things that I can't seem to let go of but they're small enough to all fit in a box and be stored away. I'm not the stereotype girl, with a huge walk-in closet that's full of clothes and shoes, or drawers of makeup and hair care products. My desk in my closet right now and there are a couple things hanging beside it that I don't want to get wrinkled but there's not much. I also have a cubby dresser that has eight bins and four of them are my clothes. I don't see the point in keeping things that serve no purpose to you. Everything in my room either means something to me or I use daily and my house would be the same.

The kitchen would a large window above the farmers sink. There would only be bottom cabinets and they would be white with a light, either bamboo looking countertop or a faint marble. I don't want anything too dark or fancy because I feel like the more intricate the countertop is the easier it is for the kitchen to look cluttered. There would be shelves for the top half, displaying a nice matching set of dishes and cups and mugs and all that good stuff. I don't want any plastic cooking utensils, only metal or bamboo. There would be an island in the middle but I think I want it a different color, maybe a brown or a light gray. The countertop would be the same. Plants would be hanging on either side of the window. Also my pantry, I have an obsession with things looking organized so everything would be in jars and looking good.

The living room would be cozy, with lots of blankets and pillows strewn about the big comfy 'L' shaped couch. A soft slightly fluffy rug would snuggle your toes as you walked across it. There would be a TV in this room but that's the only TV that would be in the house. There would be big bay windows, with floor-length curtains surrounding them. A painting over the couch, whether it's one of mine or one that just spoke to me. There would be a little nook, preferably by a window with cozy pillows and blankets to snuggle up in with a good book and a cup of tea,

The bedroom would be the same natural organic feel. A super comfy and cozy bed that makes you want to stay in it forever with warm poofy blankets to cuddle into. Again lots of windows and plants. The only thing I can think of the bathroom is a huge bathtub, plenty of room for two. It doesn't have to have jets or anything bougie but it has to be aesthetically pleasing.

A good-sized property with maybe a pool, definitely a hot tub, just a small one. I want a backyard oasis. I basically just want my whole home to feel like a spa experience. There would be a stone pathway leading to a fire pit surrounded by cozy chairs. Lots of plants, but also a separate area where there's not much going on, just grass for the dogs or kids to play around. And if there are kids, they would have some kind of jungle gym for them to play on.

That's my dream home, I hope I get that or at least close to that one day. Thanks for reading!
