Journal Challenge Day 2: Top 3 Favorite Quotes.
There are so many beautiful spoken words that truly hit home for me so it was a little hard to just pick three. I don't know who first said these quotes, so I can't tell you and I don't really feel like googling it. I didn't come up with these quotes though, just a disclaimer, please don't sue me.
The first of the three says; "Don't let anyone turn your sky into a ceiling." What I think this means is that you shouldn't let anyone stop you from following your dreams and your heart, but also I think that that 'anyone' includes yourself. I'm guilty of holding myself back sometimes because I like the little comfortable bubble that I've created. It's terrifying to go out and try new things for me, probably for most people. However, you can't bask in the sunshine or gaze up at the stars if you put yourself in a box.
Another one that hits right in the feels is: "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason, whether it's fate or destiny or whatever, we all have paths that we're supposed to walk that will shape us into who the world needs us to be. Every person you meet, every talk you have, every place you go, you're meant for those things. There's a lot of comfort in that for me, knowing that everything I've been through made me who I am and everything I'm going through now will continue to shape me. I like the person life has made me, she's kind of badass but also extremely kind and warm.
The last quote I have is 110% my favorite, it's so simple but it's words need more credit. This quote is used a lot between my mom and I, it's kind of our thing. "It's okay not to be okay." My mom and I are a lot alike, we don't show our emotions well because we don't really like to talk about them. We will tell you exactly what pissed us off when we're mad but when we're sad we don't show that. My mom is the strongest woman I know and I'm not just saying that because she's my mom. This woman has been through hell and back and she comes out fighting every time. She's an everyday superhero, but even superheroes have their kryptonite. The first time I said this to her she was going through a hard time and she was sad, I remember opening the bathroom door and seeing her sitting on the edge of the tub. We both knew how she was feeling but as soon as she saw me she instantly put on a brave face and I sat down next to her and said "You know mom, it's okay not to be okay." and I think she really felt that. The next time it was said the roles were reversed and ever since those words are so beautiful to me. They let our walls come down.
The word 'okay' is without a doubt my favorite word, but it has to be in context. If you ask someone to get milk from the store and they reply with "okay" that's not what I'm talking about. It's those moments when your broken and someone puts their arm around you and says "It's okay, you're okay, and if you're not then that's okay too because you will be okay eventually." There's so much power and hope in that word, and I love that.
That's it for this one, I hope you liked it.
