My First Quarter of University.

It's been a minute since I posted a blog. In my last one, I mentioned that I had another big research blog headed your way... Then school started and that didn't happen. I still want to do that blog, and I probably will while I'm on my Christmas break. I've still been doing my love life list, and I actually did one today. My man and I built a gingerbread house and gingerbread train. The gingerbread train only contained half of the pieces that it was supposed to, so thanks, Nestle... But whatever, we made it work, and it turned out pretty cute.

Anyway, the point of this blog is to share my university story so far. Obviously, I've got years to go before the story ends, but the beginning has been fun. Arizona State only lets freshmen take a certain amount of credits their first quarter, I don't know if other universities do that as well. I think it's so you don't overwhelm yourself and you can ease into it a little better. So I took three classes. I took ASU101 which was fun, but I didn't really see the point to it because they made me do a week-long 'class' before these classes even started. That little class went over all the need to know basics of ASU which is what this class taught. It was still fun though and I got to interact with other students. So there's that I guess. I got an A in this class, but I'm pretty sure everyone did. It was fucking easy.

My favorite class by far was my chemistry class. I've always loved science classes though so that's not surprising. The teacher I had made it an enjoyable experience. I was wondering how they were going to the labs because it is chemistry, after all, you have to blow shit up at some point. They did it so that you could do the experiments at home using things like M&M's or baking soda and some other kitchen chemicals. I chose to do the online simulations of them though because I never had all of the ingredients to do them and I wasn't about to go out and waste my money and waste those products. It was still fun doing it that way though. I did really well in this class, there was one chapter that was just a giant mind fuck or me, but other than that it was pretty easy. I got a B+.

I saved to best for last... This is the class that I was freaking stoked for. I love writing, Obviously, I have a blog... My English class. Guys, this fucking class was the stupidest waste of time. I feel like I could've learned more by having a conversation with my dog's straight-up asshole. I didn't learn anything. This professor had us do two assignments that were the exact same... and then he had us create a website... This is an English class mind you. He said "We won't grade on how creative your website is" but fucking did anyway... Then He only graded things out of 3. So you either got 99%, 66%, or 33%. You either passed or you failed pretty much. He graded on a lot of different aspects too, but they were not individually out of 3, nay nay. It was out of 3 as a whole. So If you missed one thing out of his list of like 8 or 9 then boom 66%. I did not do well in this class and honestly, I don't even care. It was a shitshow. Also, he completely fucked my grades, I wasn't sure where to hand in an assignment so I emailed him to ask, and he told me to hand in it in a certain spot and so I did that. It was the wrong spot, and then my assignment was considered late and once it's late you can only get a 1/3. So I failed that. I reached out to him to discuss it and never heard anything back. Then the first project was a research project on a local group, we had to do interviews and shit, kind in mind covid is a thing here people. So I picked a local group and reached out to them multiple times. My deadline was approaching and my stress level was rising and there was radio silence from these people. I reached out to my professor and asked if I could switch my project focus to a group I knew would be more responsive and he said yes I could do that and then he said he'd give me an extension. So I switch groups, I get everything done, I do my interviews I type up my shit, and I hand it in. And it's considered fucking late! Boom 33%. Fail. Even though I got an extension and handed in it even before that extension deadline... I tried reaching out yet again to be like "hey dipshit change my grade please" but nope nothing back. Fuck that guy, Fuck that class. I passed, I have no idea how.

I don't think I really had any expectations for what university would be like. I knew it would be harder than high school, but other than that I had no clue. It honestly wasn't that bad. The first week of it was a bit overwhelming and I almost cried about it, but it was fine. I've learned that I should research my professors beforehand to make sure they don't suck complete monkey balls. So that's good to know. Studying wasn't bad, but I've always taken good notes and studied pretty hard for school. My goal was to get A's and B's and if you don't count the massive amount of horse shit that was my English class then I accomplished that. I'm excited for my next classes to start, hopefully, I'll be learning about actual nutrition then. I'll keep you guys posted.

    As always thanks for reading!
