6 Easy Things to do to Become a Better You
There are so many things that you can do to become a better you, but sometimes because there are so many it can be intimidating. It can be hard trying to find a place to start. I want to share with you 6 easy ways to jump start your journey.
1. Drink more water. This one is one that we hear all the
time from everyone, but it really is important. Water is such a big part of
healthy living and it’s going to make you feel better physically, and get your
body on track. I know a lot of people think water is boring, but there are so
many ways to make it more interesting. Right now, I’m drinking water that has
lemon and cucumber in it because I find that so much more refreshing than plain
water. You can add berries, blueberries it a great and delicious option, I like
to freeze them first and it’s so good in the summer. In the winter, a cozy drink is hot water with lemon or honey, and it helps with sore throats.
2. Get your body moving. When we hear this a lot of people
are like omg, I have to go to the gym... Dude no. You don’t have to go to the
gym, there are so many easy, fun, and free ways to incorporate movement into
your day. Turn on some music while you cook or clean and dance it out. If you
have dogs go walk your dogs. Turn on a YouTube yoga video, and it doesn’t matter
how long it is if all you have time for a five-minute stretching video than do
that. There are guidelines and recommendations for daily exercise, but I want
you to ignore those right now and work your way up to it. Don't pressure your self to be perfect, but strive for growth.
3. Eat food that
makes you feel good. People always say, "you are what you eat" and
it's easy to hear that and be like yeah, okay, whatever. The more I learn
about nutrition the more I can recognize that that’s actually true. Our food is
our fuel. We rely on it for our energy and our health, and if were not eating
food regularly that benefits our bodies there are bodily consequences for that. Now this is going to be different for everyone,
we all have our different dietary requirements. For me, I'm anemic so I have to
eat more foods with iron in them. I also have pretty bad anxiety, so I limit my
sugars and caffeine because I find those make my anxiety worse. You have to eat
make works best for the best health of your own body. Now I’m not saying you can’t
ever have fast food or treats because it’s good to not limit yourself and treat
yourself. Follow the 80/20 rule, you eat great healthy nutritious food 80% of
the time and the other 20% you can eat what you want.
4. Find time for yourself to learn about yourself. There are so many ways you can do this, you can read books about self-improvement for example. It's important to know yourself, that's something
that I'm in the process of doing right now, and let me tell you I’m learning a
lot. Go into as much depth as you want, learn your zodiac sign and what it
means, learn your love language, and you learn your attachment style. Learn
about the things that make you happy but also the ones that you feel sad, mad,
and uncomfortable and figure out why. We are forever evolving and changing, our
mindset and our world view can change. Find out as much as you can about
yourself, and love that knowledge but also use the knowledge to grow and evolve.
5. Write out what your dream life looks like. You can manifest
and create your dream life, nothing in this world is out of your reach if you genuinely
want it. make a list of what you make and be as specific as you can, what are your
goals, what do you want, can be a material thing like a car or a house that you
want in the future. Your goals are completely up to you, they can be as small,
large, simple, or wild as you want them to be. Once you have your list start
working on your goals. You can create a daily goal that can help you meet a weekly
goal, which can help you meet a monthly goal, that can help you reach a yearly
goal or however long it’s going to take you to achieve what you want to
achieve.
6. Start training your mind to reframe situations. It’s easy
to have a negative mindset and get stuck there, but that does absolutely nothing
for us. We need to look at 'failure' as a type of win, as a type of success
because failure is not a bad thing it’s a learning experience and it’s part of
every journey so we might as well embrace it. Try to start finding the Brightside
to everything, try to figure out what you’re learning through this. I’m not
telling you to be this happy-go-lucky person and only have great feelings because
negative feelings are important, and they make the good feelings feel even
better. but don't get stuck in the negative, feel your feels, take your time,
deal with them, and let them go. Don’t bottle them up, talk about them, write
about them, sign about them, do a workout to lift your spirits, do yoga to calm
you down, drink water to clear your mind. Do whatever it is you have to do to
deal with your feelings and then get them out of you.
There are a lot of things you could do to start your, these
are just a few suggestions to help you out if you want. Also, I want to clarify
that by “a better you” I don’t mean that you’re not amazing the way you are
right now so please don’t take it that way. It is okay to work on yourself and
that doesn’t mean that you’re broken or not good enough. We are always changing
and everything and everyone around us is also constantly changing. Growth is
going to happen, and I want that growth to be good and healthy for you and I
want you to have the tools and knowledge of how to manage situations. So that’s
what I mean when I say a “better you.”
